Similarly, at Ashby Hastings, volunteers have played a key role in opening the newest Drey as part of the ASH Legacy project. Their enthusiasm and commitment have ensured that the section has started strong, with young people already benefiting from a fun and engaging programme.
This growth hasn’t come without its challenges, particularly around recruiting and supporting new volunteers to lead these sections. However, through collaboration, community spirit, and the support provided through the ASH Legacy, these new Dreys are now up and running — a testament to what can be achieved when people come together.
This is another great example of how the ASH Legacy is helping to grow and strengthen Scouting across Leicestershire — supporting volunteers, creating more spaces, and ensuring even the youngest members of our communities can start their adventure in Scouting.
