Completing awards challenges you to do more, learn more and be more. See what’s on offer and start your journey to the top.
Beaver Promise
As a values based movement we all make the ‘The Promise’ an oath that helps us to be our best
Moving up to Cubs
Eventually, it’ll be time to say farewell to Beavers and embrace your next big adventure.
Uniform and badge placement
You don’t need a uniform to join. But once you’ve settled in, you’ll start speedily earning badges, and you’ll need to know where to put them!
Beaver leaders
All of our leaders are trained volunteers, working to make sure Scouting is safe, inclusive and accessible. Some lead the Colony week in and week out. Others visit occasionally to help run a session or drop in to share their skills. No matter how much time you have to spare, find out about volunteering on your own terms.
General Information
The Beaver Section is for young people usually aged between 6 and 8 years old. A young person can join the Colony from 5 3/4 years old and may stay until 8 1/2 years old.
The Beavers are easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts.
When and Where Do We Meet?
Colony | For Ages | Day | From | Until | Leader |
Beaver Scouts | 6-8 Year Olds | Monday | 18:00 | 19:30 | Katy Fox |
Beavers meet at Aylestone Scout & Guide Hut, Church Street, Leicester LE2 8ND.
Lodges
Each group of Beavers is called a ‘Colony’, taking its name from a group of these animals in the wild. Within the Colony, beavers are organised into sub-groups known as ‘Lodges’ which are named after trees.
Each Lodge is made up of around 6 beavers of a range of ages and new beavers usually join a Lodge in which they know at least one person.
Typical Beaver Night
We welcome parents and carers to come in anytime if they want to experience or know more. If you have any questions regarding the nightly or term programme please do come in and speak the Beaver Leader(s).
Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. We also organise Sleepovers. These are often the first time a young person spends a night away from home.
