Scouts is where young people make new friends, have amazing adventures and learn new skills –  all of which is supported by our amazing 2241 volunteers. Surprised at that number? Well, something else that might surprise you, is that 455 of these volunteers are charity trustees.

Being a trustee is a great for professional development, particularly for people looking for experience in strategic planning, finance, risk management and general board level experience.

We need people who can see things from different viewpoints, who are passionate about supporting their community, and want to give young people skills for life.

We also encourage every volunteer to bring their own skills, knowledge and experience to the role.

No previous experience at Scouts or as a trustee is necessary, and whilst the time commitment can vary depending on the type of trustee role, it’s usual for trustees to meet 5-7 times per year and a few hours per month.
