We are keen to see Forward5 funding strengthen Scouting and at the heart of what we do are the venues in which we meet, whether a Scout HQ or other space. The better they are the more likely we are to attract and keep young people and adult volunteers, not to mention making sure we have safe spaces. Those without a Scout HQ should have the equipment to make the experience as easy and rewarding as possible.
To support you in this we are running a Forward5 competition where we are keen to give away money to help great projects. The rules are simple:
- Rather than the usual application form complete the easy application form found here email to Jonathan (jonathan.griffin@leicestershirescouts.org.uk) and Adrian (adrian.wray@leicestershirescouts.org.uk)
- Entries to be submitted by 30th April 2025
- Proposed grant to be under £5,000.
- No taking the mickey – if your group is fortunate to have available funds in the bank, please leave Forward5 for those that need it.
- Ideally (but this is NOT a requirement) your group to be adding something to the £1,000, eg matched funding or labour.
- Winners will be informed by the end of May 2025 – we aim to give away up to £30,000!
We are looking for things that will improve your meeting spaces and make your meetings easier/better. Examples can constrain imagination, but here goes:
- Paint and brushes so you can smarten up the place
- Storage solutions
- Smart new crockery to replace all that tatty stuff
- Insulation
- Heating
- External lighting
- Portable noticeboards
- Folding ramps/induction loops
- Hi vis jackets/flags/banners (especially for meeting out of doors in the dark)
- Sports/craft equipment
- These are just examples – ask for what your meeting space needs.
