Interested in volunteering as a Trustee with Leicestershire Scouts?
The Scout Groups across Leicester & Leicestershire deliver skills for life to thousands of young people, every week, across the different communities we serve. People like you joining our Boards of Trustees make sure that we can sustainably deliver a fantastic programme for our young people to develop skills for life – safely, legally, and in line with our charitable purpose.
Our Board of Trustees is here to support volunteers, so that they can do their role of supporting leadership teams to provide a great programme for young people. There are eleven key areas that our Board of Trustees is responsible for supporting:
1. Following the Rules of the organisation
2. Insuring people, property and equipment
3. Managing the finances
4. Providing Scouting safely
5. Connecting Scouting with the local community and supporting it to grow
6. Involving young people in decision making
7. Meeting the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR) requirements for local Scouts
8. Making decisions about opening, closing and merging of Districts, Groups, Sections, Explorer Units, Network and Scout Active Support sections at appropriate level
9. Supervision of administration of Districts and Groups, particularly around finance and trusteeship of property
We’re looking for Trustees who ideally have one or more of the following skills:
* Charity Regulation and Law
* Human Resources experience
* Commercial experience
* Health, safety and risk management experience
But – most of all – we’re looking for you to be passionate about supporting as many young people as possible to get the best possible start in life.
Everyone on the Board of Trustees takes on the responsibilities of a charity trustee; they act collectively and in the interests of the members of Scouts locally. We’ll provide all the support you need to get you up to speed and to enable you to be effective in your role.
