The Beaver section was officially launched by the Scout Association in 1986! However the section had existed before this as trial and unofficial sections as far back as 1963.
Beavering really got underway in October 1982, when they were officially introduced throughout the U.K., with the introduction of the new uniform (of a grey sweatshirt and turquoise necker with a maroon woggle – and optional jogging bottoms) for boys.
Our Colony in Aylestone was started a little before this as we didn’t have the uniform initially, However I can’t find an exact date the Colony was started as this was before all of our existing Leaders were there (even Gill!). So how do I know this well I was a Beaver without a Uniform when the Colony started! I suspect it was in 1986 though.
